Healthy Families America®
Healthy Families America® (HFA®) is a voluntary, no-cost home visiting program that supports expectant parents and families with young children during pregnancy and early childhood. Offered through Koinonia Family Services’ Prevention Services, HFA® focuses on strengthening parent-child relationships and supporting healthy development from the very beginning.
Families are partnered with a caring Family Support Specialist who offers encouragement, practical guidance, and support tailored to each family’s unique strengths, experiences, and goals. The program is designed to be flexible, relationship-centered, and responsive to what families need most as they navigate early parenthood.
Currently available through our Fresno, Visalia, and Modesto locations.
What Services Are Provided Through HFA®?
Families enrolled in HFA® receive ongoing home visiting support beginning during pregnancy or shortly after a child’s birth. Services are delivered through regular visits with a dedicated Family Support Specialist who partners with families over time.
Visits are guided by each family’s priorities and focus on supporting healthy relationships, child development, and overall family well-being. Support may adjust as families grow, change, and move through different stages of early childhood.
Through HFA®, Koinonia Can Support You With:
- Building strong, healthy parent-child relationships
- Parenting education using the Parents as Teachers curriculum
- Understanding your child’s growth, development, and cues
- Navigating stress, transitions, and the emotional ups and downs of parenting
- Connecting to medical providers, social services, and community resources
- Supporting the well-being of your whole family—however you define family
Visits are typically weekly in the early months and may become less frequent over time, based on your family’s needs and preferences. Additional support can be added during times of increased stress or transition.
What Does Participation Look Like?
- Home visits usually last about an hour
- Visits most often take place in your home, but may also happen in another comfortable setting
- Conversations are family-led and centered on what matters most to you
- Participation is always voluntary, and you can adjust or pause services at any time
You are the expert on your family. Our role is to listen, support, and walk alongside you.
Support at No Cost to You
Healthy Families America® services are provided at no cost to families. Participation will not affect any other benefits or services you may already receive.
